As the name suggests, this maps the support (according to the most recent poll) for various European monarchies and the restoration of abolished European monarchies.
Sidenotes:
This shows the SUPPORT for European monarchies, not necessarily Republican sentiment. A lot of people have no opinion or are unsure of their position towards the monarchy. Likewise 40% of Serbs favouring the restoration of the monarchy =/= 60% of Serbs favour the current Republic. I have also excluded Royal Family opinions and stuck to just support for the institution of the monarchy itself.
As mentioned above, while the monarchy of Sweden appears to be suffering from a spate of unpopularity, it's important to note that the heir apparent, Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel are immensely popular. Conversely, the UK views the monarchy as an institution very favourably but some individual royal family members (such as heir apparent Prince Charles) very unfavourably.
While the UK monarchy's support has remained constantly popular since records began, the map shows the recent surge in unpopularity of the Dutch, Swedish and Spanish monarchies. Although the Spanish monarchy is current seeing a recovery after dipping below 50% support when Juan Carlos I abdicated.
I'm afraid I couldn't find a single source for the popularity of the Belgian monarch, only opinions on individual Royal Family members.
I found some unreliable sources that support for the restoration of the Portuguese monarchy at 15% but I couldn't verify this.
Although I can't find a quantitative source, support for the Italian monarchy is at an all time low.
The most interesting information I found was there was some support in the early 1990s in Estonia of "inviting" Prince Edward (youngest child of QEII) to become King of Estonia.
